Trump Impeachment

On Wednesday, President Donald J. Trump may become the first ever President to be impeached twice by the House of Representatives. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, along with many House Republicans and Democrats, called for President Trump to resign the office after inciting violence at the Capitol riots.

Speaker Pelosi and other Representatives have been calling for Vice President Mike Pence and members of the cabinet to evoke the 25th amendment, even making a resolution to formally address the issue, but the resolution was promptly shut down by House Republicans. Instead, Speaker Pelosi announced that the House will gather to vote on Impeachment on Wednesday, January 13th; exactly the day in which President Trump begins his last week in office.

President Donald Trump is being tried for Incitement, after the Capitol building domestic terrorist attacks, which left 5 people dead. If Donald Trump is formerly impeached by both the House and Senate, he will not only become the first President to be impeached by the House twice, but the first President to be taken out of office through impeachment.

With only a bit more than a full week left in office, some question if the impeachment is even necessary, as President-Elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated on the 20th of January. On the other hand, many critics of Trump say that after inciting violence at the Capitol riots, the President is too dangerous to stay in power, even if he only has a few more days left.
