ATTENTION SENIORS: Here Are Some of YOUR Questions Answered
April 22, 2022
Here are some questions that have been asked from fellow seniors regarding the important dates coming up. Our lovely Senior School Advisor Mrs. Sheilah Thomas (Room 4-113), has taken her time to answer these questions. Please refer to this before asking more questions!
- When is the last day to order cap and gowns?
“Cap and gowns need to be ordered ASAP at www.jostens.com (last day to order online is May 8) OR in person, paid with cash to Mrs. Thomas in 4-113.”
2. Can you decorate your caps this year? What are the limits/specifications?
“A letter was sent home with pertinent information for seniors – included was this:
Dress the part for a once-in-a-lifetime event that’s rich in style and traditions: The general guideline is that the graduate should select clothing and shoes customarily worn at important occasions. Students should not wear jeans, sandals, sneakers, or shorts. All students participating in the ceremony must wear a cap and gown. Here are some important details:
· Please put on your cap and gown immediately upon arrival. The stadium does not allow bobby pins on the field.
· Tassels are worn on the right side of the cap and switched to the left side when the
Superintendent says, “I declare you graduates of North Port High School.”
· The graduation cap is worn flat on the head, parallel to the floor. The front point of the cap should be centered on the forehead. Any decorations must be in good taste and flat on the cap; all are subject to administrative approval.
· The academic gown represents North Port High School and may not be decorated. Only school provided gowns, stoles and cords may be worn.”
- Somebody asked about where to get tickets for graduation but another student answered for them–the senior BBQ? Is that mandatory? When is that again?
“MANDATORY Graduation Practice — Monday, May 16th at 8am in the PAC Students may not walk in the graduation ceremony if they do not attend practice. Eight tickets will be distributed to each senior after the completion of practice.
The senior BBQ is May 10 from 5-7 – this is where seniors can pick up ordered yearbooks, cap and gowns, honor tassels/cords; eat free food, there will be a DJ and raffles you must be present to win!”
