16 September Announcements

     Breaking news! Homecoming details are here. The Homecoming dance will be on Saturday, October 29 from 7 to 10 pm here at NPHS in the Cage. Tickets will be $30. We’ll have all the details about tickets soon. Remember, attendance and behavior expectations must be met to be allowed to attend homecoming.

     Season passes are still available to purchase. Stop by the athletic department before and after school and see Coach Miller. Student passes are $40 and adult $60. If you purchased a pass and still need your sticker on your ID please bring your temporary pass to athletics along with your ID. 

 

     ASVAB testing will take place on 4 October at 0800 in the PAC. Please see Mr. Coulson in the Student Success Center for sign ups. 

 

     You’ve heard of Senior superlatives, and now you can vote for teacher superlatives. We’ve updated our QR code for you. You can vote for spots like cutest staff couple, most intimidating vocabulary, most likely to smile in the hallway, and many more. Scan the QR to vote. Voting closes at 2:15.

 

     Attention all Freshman! Your Student Class Blackboard is now open for all Freshman to vote. Who would you like to represent you as your class president this school year? Voting closes at midnight.

 

     The thespian troupe is hosting the annual lip sync battle. If you are apart of a club or organization and are interested, an informational meeting is taking place on September 19th at 2:20 in the PAC lobby. If you have any further questions, please contact Mr. Oliver or Ms. Henderson.

     There are three North Port High School winners of the 2022  “What Makes You Healthy” Art/Media Contest sponsored by the Rotary Club.  

  • Channon Southwell is a $1000 Poster Winner 
  • Julia Kobzar (class of 2022) is a $1000 Poster Winner 
  • Kaitlyn Schoenfeld is a $250 Graphic Design Winner 

 

 Sports:

  • The Volleyball Program is having a spirit night fundraiser at the Chipotle in North Port on 9/20/22 from 5pm-9pm! Mention NPHS Volleyball at check out to help support our program! 
  • There will be an informational meeting for Girl’s Soccer after school, today in room 7-207 (Sra. Duque’s room). 

 Special Events:

     Did you know that you have rights? The Constitution says you do. And so do I. I believe that until proven guilty, every man, woman, and child in this country is innocent. Which is why it’s so important to celebrate Constitution Week!  

      Starting today, the news will be covering this great founding document and all it entails. From “We the people” to the 39 signatures, the words that shaped the nation are important- without them, we would have no structure! The constitution says: 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, 

that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, 

that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. 

     The constitution lays out everything we know. It tells us how the three branches are to be structured, and what those branches can and cannot do. It tells us how to handle power, and who gets the power. The very foundation of our democracy is laid out within these documents.  

     So, celebrate! Have great joy and know the great prosperity that these documents bring us each and every day. These documents may not be perfect, but the founding fathers knew this, which is why they aimed only to “form a more perfect union.” Make sure you tune in every day to hear more about the framework of our nation!
