October 24 Announcements

    Good Morning Bobcats! 

 

     The Homecoming Dance has been rescheduled and will be on Saturday, November 12! The time will be 7-10pm here in the Cage. This year’s theme is “Aurora Borealis.” Tickets will be on sale soon. 

 

     I am Messiah Pacheco, President of the NPHS DFY (Drug Free Youth) CATCH Club, and we are doing a fundraiser to fund the program which includes materials for the Poinsettia Parade Christmas Float, candy for Trunk or Treat, and many more events.  Our fundraiser is called Toilet Mover, and we will be moving a toilet into classrooms and students can give money to have it removed.  

  • It will be $8 for removal from office or classroom sent back to DFY (5-216),
  • $16 for removal + sending to a specific staff member of choice
  • $20 for removal + sending to a specific staff member + Staff member goes on an EXEMPT list and never receive it again this year. 

 

     The ASVAB test that was scheduled for October 4th will now be rescheduled for November 7th at 8am in the PAC. Sign up in the Student Success Center. 

 

     Attention Unity-Day leaders! If you are going to be one of the leaders for Unity Day here at NPHS on 11 November, you will need to attend the training on Saturday, 29 October from 930-130 at STC, located at 4748 S Beneva Rd, Sarasota. Please see Mr. Mannino if you cannot attend the rescheduled date. 

 

     Need help in math class? Studying for an upcoming test or the FSA retake? Math Lab is now open in the media center after school for students needing help in algebra 1, 2, and geometry. Math lab will be every Monday and Thursday after school at 2:30 until 3:30. Ask your math teacher for details and we will see you there! 

 

SPIRIT WEEK:

  • Hey Bobcats, ae you ready to GET DOWN at the block party. Make sure to show your school spirit 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday.  
  • The Homecoming Pep Rally will occur 2nd period on Friday. We will have a modified PRIDE bell schedule.  
  • Attention Bobcat Nation, The Homecoming game will occur on Friday, and festivities will begin at 6pm.  
  • Spirit Week is next week, October 24 to 28. Spirit Week dress-up days are: Tuesday: Adam Sandler day, Wednesday: Class Color Day, Thursday: Throwback Thursday, and Friday: Bobcat Pride Day. We will have the Block Party on Wednesday Afternoon. We will also have a Pep Rally on Friday during school. The Homecoming Football Game will be held on Friday as scheduled. The Lip Sync competition is postponed to Spring but Homecoming will be held on Saturday, November 12! Stay tuned for more news about Spirit Week! 
    • On Tuesday, wear your greatest Adam Sandler outfit. Try your best to dress like the Sandman himself.  
    • On Wednesday, show your school spirit by wearing your class color. Freshman wear yellow, Sophomores wear green, Juniors wear orange, and Seniors wear Red. 
    • On Thursday, make sure to wear your retro fit for Throwback Thursday! 
    • On Friday, show your school spirit by wearing school colors and Bobcat swag. 

SPORTS:

  • Girls basketball tryouts will be held October 24-26 in the gym after school. Any girl interested in trying out will need to have their athletic clearance complete before they can try out. If you have any questions se Mrs. Skelton in Athletics
  • Boys basketball tryouts will start October 31st and will go until November 2nd. Varsity tryouts will take place from 4:30-6:30 and JV basketball tryouts will take place from 6:30-8:30 in the gym. Make sure all proper paperwork is submitted with the athletic department before October 31st.

 

DFY TESTING:

  • Hey bobcats, on November 6th at the Morgan Center, DFY is testing in order to obtain membership with the program. This program has many benefits, and if you are in the club and have a membership, you can obtain a graduation cord! The only date in the year after that is December 1st, and if you’re a Senior you must test on one of those two dates to get your cord! We hope to see you there.
