Good morning Bobcats! Are you trying to choose an elective class to take next year? Maybe we can help. Ms. Lord and the NPHS Journalism staff are looking for a few good reporters to keep the whole Bobcat community informed.
Journalism 1 is open to anyone except for rising seniors. (Sorry, seniors!) You can choose from news class or yearbook class when you apply. The news class records and produces the daily announcements you’re watching right now, and we also develop the quarterly parent newsletter, so we need announcers, videographers and video editors, writers, and proofreaders. The yearbook class creates content for the school yearbook, so we need writers, interviewers, reporters, graphic designers, and photographers. Scan the QR code to complete your application today.
Want to learn more? Listen to this. In this class you will learn all about the various roles of a reporter and try out every part of the job! Professional journalists start their reporting with background research. They use their research to write interview questions that will get their subjects talking. Then, they get more information by attending events, taking pictures, and talking to a variety of sources. Afterward, they organize the information and decide how to tell the story. Finally, they proofread, write captions for their pictures, and write a headline and deck for their story.
In journalism class, you get lots of opportunities to choose topics that interest you, because we cover all of the clubs, sports, and academic programs at our school. Did you know that our school has more than 20 active clubs? Journalism students know, because we have staff who report on all of them! If Journalism class sounds like it might be right for you, scan the QR code shown here to apply. Seats are limited, so don’t wait. Apply today!
