28 March Announcements

      “A Night Upon the Sea,” this year’s Prom is on Saturday, April 29th from 7-11 p.m. at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center located on the water in Punta Gorda. 

 Tickets will go on sale for seniors starting on Monday, April 3 and juniors can begin purchasing on Wednesday, April 5th. Prom tickets are $80 each and can be purchased during all lunches in the cafeteria. Make sure you pick up the Prom Formal Contract in your English class or in 8-213 which must be filled out and signed and all media center fines and athletic fees paid prior to purchasing your prom ticket. You must meet the attendance requirements listed on the contract to attend prom. Refunds are NOT issued if you become ineligible to attend prom due to discipline or attendance. 

 Tickets will be sold during all lunches in the cafeteria. Bring your $80 cash or check, your completed contract, and your I.D. to purchase tickets. 

     Current 9th and 10th graders interested in auditioning for any of our VPA programs for next year, please be sure to fill out your application right away. Scan the QR code to access all of the information and plan to attend auditions on Saturday, April 1 from 10am-noon for all programs except dance – dance auditions are 5pm to 7pm. VPA programs are for students interested in pursuing serious study and even a career in one of our arts disciplines. See Mrs. Slay if you have specific questions.

Cheerleading Tryouts for the 23-24 school year will be held May 3rd-6th.  An information meeting for interested athletes and a parent will be held in the Cafeteria on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30pm.

     At the Tarpon Classic over the weekend, the Boys Track team took 2nd overall and the girls took 5th. 

First place finishers include: 

  • Ariana, Amber, Brenda, and Malia in the 4×800 relay. 
  • Malia in the 1600meters with a new school record of 5 minutes 14 seconds. 
  • Zakil, Jeremy, Taggert, and Evan in the 4×800 relay and Evan also won in the 1600 and 3200. 

 These relay teams and individual runners, plus Sophie Ramirez and Cassie Mendez have qualified for the Pepsi “University of Florida” relay. Congratulations on qualifying and good luck! 

     Congratulations to the Indoor Color Guard finishing 10th in their division at State competition over the weekend. The guard boosted their scores by nearly 30 points over the course of the season – great effort paid off! 

  

     And congratulations to Indoor Percussion, finishing 2nd in the State over the weekend and bringing home the Silver Medal. Great job teams, Mrs. Slay, and Mrs. Alegria!
