“A Night Upon the Sea,” this year’s Prom is on Saturday, April 29th from 7-11 p.m. at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center located on the water in Punta Gorda.
Tickets will go on sale for seniors starting on Monday, April 3 and juniors can begin purchasing on Wednesday, April 5th. Prom tickets are $80 each and can be purchased during all lunches in the cafeteria. Make sure you pick up the Prom Formal Contract in your English class or in 8-213 which must be filled out and signed and all media center fines and athletic fees paid prior to purchasing your prom ticket. You must meet the attendance requirements listed on the contract to attend prom. Refunds are NOT issued if you become ineligible to attend prom due to discipline or attendance.
Tickets will be sold during all lunches in the cafeteria. Bring your $80 cash or check, your completed contract, and your I.D. to purchase tickets
Please come and see NPHS’ art students’ work at our annual art showcase. The art is on display from April 1st to April 14th at the North Port Art Center. The reception for the show will be on April 5th at 6:30pm at the art center. Support your local artists!

If you’re thinking about college, here’s what’s coming up in the Student Success Center:
- Tuesday April 11: SCF will be here helping seniors complete applications and register for Orientations.
- Thursday April 13th: STEM day at Florida Poly Tech University. We are taking a field trip to Florida Poly and students will participate in an all day STEM workshop, lunch and transportation provided. Students must stop by the SSC to register.
The student board member applications for the Education Foundation are now open. If you know of students that would be interested, please encourage them to apply. This year they have two open positions – a voting position (senior class of 2024) and also a junior (class of 2025) position, who can potentially stay on for the following year.
Applications will close on May 5.
On April 11th from 8am-10am, NPHS will be hosting a career fair in the courtyard with approximately 30 local companies on campus for you to talk to. Please dress appropriately and have your resume in hand! If you need help with a resume or have any further questions, please see Mr. Coulson in the Student Success Center.
CLUB NEWS:
The Key Boutique is now open daily from 2:15-3:30 in Mrs. Pomerleau’s room 5-105. The boutique offers free prom attire to interested students. Come and check it out to find your perfect dress, outfit, or accessories. The boutique will be open every day until April 28 except for April 13 and 14.
SPORTS NEWS:
Cheerleading tryouts for the 2023 cheer squad will be held May 3rd-6th. For all athletes and prospective athletes, there will be a Free Physical Night held in the high school cafeteria April 12th from 5-8pm. You must be accompanied by a parent if under 18. Free Notary Service will also be available at the event on April 12 for athletic paperwork. Remember that you cannot audition or practice until all paperwork has been submitted.
SENIOR NEWS:
Seniors! Multiple Events happening are coming in the near future:
- Eligible students will get an email invitation for BOTH Academic Signing Day and Senior Awards Night! In order to be invited you must turn in your letters of acceptance and scholarship offers to Ms. Sims in Guidance.
Academic Signing Day is on April 28th at 2:45 in the Cafeteria while Senior Awards Night is on May 4th at 7:00 in the PAC. Both events are by invitation only. - Senior BBQ is on May 10th from 5-7pm and MUST HAVE a student ID. This event is for the Class of 2023 ONLY and at the BBQ you will get your Cap and Gown. Before you get your Cap and Gown, YOU MUST HAVE paid all fees or fines and turned in equipment and uniforms. At Senior BBQ you may also pick up honor cords, tassels, yearbooks, and other senior items. You must plan to attend.
