News from Mr. Coulson and Mrs. Halbert in the Student Success Center! On Tuesday, May 2nd at 8am, ASVAB testing will be conducted in lab 5-115. Any junior or senior interested in military service should sign up. Seating is limited and it is not an excuse to miss mandatory testing. Please see Mr. Coulson in the Student Success Center for signups.
Attention seniors: if you have not yet completed your FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) we are hosting one more FAFSA night. May 3, from 5-7 in the Student Success Center. You and your parents are welcome to attend. There will be computers available and FAFSA representatives for help in completing it.
Juniors and Seniors can vote for Prom Court on your class Blackboard course. Prom Court voting will end Friday at midnight. King and Queen voting will be available in the same place, starting Monday.
Hey Bobcats! Do you sing? Dance? Act? Play an instrument? Write poetry? Come audition for the NPHS Talent Show! NPHS has talent and we want to see it! If you have a background track, please put it on a flash drive. Auditions will take place APRIL 25th in the chorus room (Area 51) Behind the theater. The actual talent show will be the following evening, April 26th. YOU could be our next North Port High School’s top talent! We will see you on April 25th.
SPORTS NEWS:
Current and future Bobcat Football Players, there will be a mandatory meeting on Monday April 24 from 6-7pm in the PAC. Both the player and a parent or guardian is required to attend. Coach Belser and the coaching staff will cover summer training, athletic clearance paperwork, fundraising, team expectations, and more. See you then!
Do your part to help renovate our weight room – and clean out your closet, too! The athletic department is collecting old sneakers, rubber cleats, and other closed-toed shoes to raise funds for our weight room project. Now through May 10. Bring in YOUR old but usable shoes to your first period teacher and get entered for prizes! There will be a donut party for the class with the most participation, plus a $50 gift card, $100 gift card, and a pair of Air Jordans will be given away to participants. Teachers, send your list of donations to Coach Sorbino.
Attention all athletes! The athletic department presents a Lift-A-Thon May 3-9 to raise money for our awesome weight room renovation project. If you use our weight room, participate in our Lift-A-Thon and help us get a well-needed upgrade! See Coach Rowe or Coach Egloff for registration information. There are some great prizes available, and Lift-A-Thon winners will have their records posted in the weight room, too!
CLUB NEWS:
Key Club is recruiting new members for the 2023-24 school year. Please join us in room 5-105 after school on Tuesdays
The Key Boutique is now open daily from 2:15-3:30 in Mrs. Pomerleau’s room 5-105. The boutique offers free prom attire to interested students. Come and check it out to find your perfect dress, outfit, or accessories. The boutique will be open every day until April 28 except for April 13 and 14.
SGA is accepting applications for next school year. Applications are due on April 28. Information is in your class Blackboard page. Be sure to meet all requirements.
SENIOR NEWS:
- Seniors accepted to 4-year Universities should check their school email for the invitation to participate in Academic Signing Day. The event is taking place after school on April 28th. You must be committing to attend a four-year University and have not already participated in an athletic signing day. Please fill out the form in the email. Only 19 out of 60 invitations have been returned. If you have any questions see Mr. Thomas in Guidance.
- Invitations have begun going out for Senior Awards Night. This is an invitation only event on May 4th at 7:00 PM. Seniors, in order to be recognized you MUST turn in proof of scholarships from either college or universities or independent agencies. Turn them into Ms. Sims in Guidance. You could also be invited because of awards through classes or school organizations. Invitations are given in person by Ms. Sims. If you feel you should have been invited and have not yet please see Mr. Thomas in Guidance.
