Digital Art and Design

Simona Sugar, Student

Digital Art is something I always admired. I wasn’t good on paper, but I’m working on it. What really caught my eye is Digital Art. I started getting into it in High School when I was in 9th grade. The first digital art that I saw was on Instagram. It was a person that I admired at the time and I loved it. When I downloaded Twitter, I saw more Digital Art projects that other people did for their celebrity that they admired or their family member. I didn’t take any action until this year. I’m taking a computer class called, “Emerging Technology Business”. It is a simple class. It’s about getting to know the app that’s on the computer. The ones that we’re working on to get to know better is Word now.

Later, we’ll move on to PowerPoint and Excel. You can learn different programs. It’s about getting to know the shortcuts and where everything is. In word, we must answer questions like what’s a group? Where is the group? Where can I get to the dialog? What’s the ribbon? This class can provide you with that information that you never knew.

Digital art can be computer generated, scanned or drawn using a tablet and a mouse. In the 1990s, thanks to improvements in digital technology, it was possible to download video onto computers, allowing artists to manipulate the images they had filmed with a video camera. There’s different types of digital arts. There is 15 different type of digital arts to consider. Theres Fractal/Algorithmic Art, Data-Moshing, Dynamic Painting, 2D Computer Graphics, 3D Computer, etc.

Why is digital art important? Instant Shareability. Because digital art creation is already stored on a digital device, it is easier for artists to share their work in its highest form. Work can be shared digitally on websites and through social media instantly. Digital art is very much easier, can be done with much ease in sketching, coloring or shading, layering and so on. Edit tools enable undo and settings help to work on layers for every sequence.

Digital Art is valuable because it’s blockchain technology that allows digital art to exist and to be verified as unique. Of course, the amount someone is willing to pay for art determines the value. However, digital art now surely has characteristics to be considered valuable art: It can be verified as a unique creation.

In conclusion, some of these types are easy to take on while some need extra effort before you can master them but, learning about digital art is as fun as discovering what you can do with a paintbrush in your hand. All that is needed is to pick one type of digital art, and with a bit of practice with dedication, you can create your own masterpiece in no time!
